it depends if you like to grind or if you like vert?
It depends on your level to start with.

I'd get to be 100% confident in skating forwards and backwards on the street, and be able to quickly change from skating forwards to backwards and back again to forwards. Then you can start with 360s and stalls. Then go with transitions and grinds.

Wear pads/helmet if you are new to skating backwards because you'll probably fall a few times. After that it's all fun and improvement comes quickly.

Skate hard!
it can be alot of fun but to me you can get hurt more. ive done both blades and boards. one thing i learned the hard way is with board you can just jump off, cant exactly do so with blades. oh yeahanother thing dont get cocky
just try things u know u can do for a little bit. then try something new. even if it is just going down a ramp or stalling on something small. just keep trying new things to build up a good confidance level.
Well, I'm kinda new too, so maybe my 'newbie' experiences can help you ^^:
I started with quarter pipes, from smaller to bigger ones.
When I thought i can go on and off, I tried to do some tricks
while skating on one. Now I'm having trouble with the grinds O_o..
i think the biggest thing you can do is get some friends to skate with you. constructive criticism, confidence building, and motivation all come with skating with buddies. plus its way more fun
to add on to that also make sure there are ppl around incase you get hurt bad. so that way someone can help you to your feet
I agree with UNYIE!. If you have friends to skate with then you can teach each other as you teach yourself. Get some videos if you can. First, just get good at skating, yah i know you want to try all of the hard fun stuff first. But, if you can't skate real well, chances are, you aren't going to be able to do any tricks. See if there is a skate park near you and go there. It's a good place to hook up with fellow booters and learn at the same time. Also, don't get discouraged, you WILL fall, you WILL get hurt, but if it was easy.....everyone would do it right? So keep your chin up, keep at it, and roll your heart out.
yeah find friends that skate. Be confident in your skating know what u can and cant do and do it for the fun
trying to skate like chris haffey wont help you try to skate like yourself
dont force style or tricks
yo kid wat kind of moves u kno
what u know so far
Just learn basics which i believe is basic riding, spins, stalls and all that good stuff. Riding backwards is always a good start just get familar with your skates go to a park and mess around as much as possible. Practice makes perfect
