I found out through recent experience that in the state of tennessee you have to be 18 or older and have a prescription to get what is known as the morning-after pill. It is a pill to be taken within 72 hrs of having unprotected sex to prevent getting pregnant. For my final speech tournament I am going to write a bill to change that law to where you can be at least 16 and you dont need a prescription. plz let me know what your views are on this. Feel free to give both sides so i can build a good and strong debate.

peace out,
Blondie

i think it is a stupid idea because you shouldnt be having unprotected sex or sex period at 16

Its bad to have sex at 16? Jesus, the vast majority of people who have lived within the past 40 years are fucked on a morality level, then.

Either way, I'm for it. Why? It's not a matter of encouraging kids to have sex or not have sex, theyre going to do it no matter how many lobbyists the concerned parents of America can gather. It's a matter of reducing sizes of orphanages, illegitimate children, and kids who don't have parents who can support them. Morality should hold no water in this situation, because you can't force morality.

i agree with the fact that it would limit orphanages but still there is no need for sex at 16 plus the fact that people should have to have a perscription because so many kids overdose on drugs or take them when they dont need them if you didnt have to have a perscription so many people would take them even if they didnt need them

There is no need for sex outside of procreation, either, but that doesnt stop people. Like I said, morality has nothing to do with the topic. If two kids wanna do the dirty, theyre going to. Perscription for a morning after pill? That....made me laugh a little. Seriously, if kids are overdosing on morning after pills, or abusing them, thats their fault, and thats natural selection working its course. If youre old enough to decide you wanna fuck, youre old enough to be responsible about it.

true it dosent stop people but i still belive it should stay the way it is with you having to be 18 and have a perscription

While I personally agree with the Darwinistic ideas of Meatball, in today's society we are all about protecting people from themselves. Spray paint is locked behind a counter, kids aren't supposed to be able to buy M games, etc. A drug like that pill should require a Dr visit.

I also think 18 is important because parents should know what's going on with their kids. If a parent can get fined for a kid skipping school, why shouldn't they know about doing that?

Since when is it our responsibility to tell people how to run their lives? Since when should anyone possess that power? I know its been around forever, but free will is a bitch, and this freedom idea the United States has, it doesn't exactly help with the halting of free will.

I believe its the parents responsibility to raise their children how they would like them to turn out. If parents dont want their kids to grow up being promiscuous, then raise them in a conservative atmosphere. It works for the Mormons. It shouldnt be the governments, states, general populations decision on whether or not something like that should be given to minors. If kids are fucking, in which they are, then make it easier for them to take the steps necessary to halt the major influx of bastard children who most likely wont be raised properly.
