How often of when do I need to replace bearings? Mine sound like their running rough. Any suggestions? I've tried WD-40 on them but it only lasts for the rest of the day.

never, ever , use WD-40, it will make them roll faster for about 2 Hrs., but it leaves a residue, which collects dust and dirt. it will slow your bearings in the long run
DW-40 sucks, go buy 3 in 1 all purpose oil, cleans, lubricates n protects. pwnage
Thanks guys. Will try that.
with the 3 in 1 purpose oil what brand or whatever is it?
okay heres what i do, and its about the best you can do, though it takes time. if you have them on your bearings, take OFF the rubber walls but be carefull not to bend them. if you have a bearing with metal walls then leave them on.

take a small container like a cup or something and fill it with choke and carb cleaner, then let your bearings soak in that for about a day( DO NOT SOAK THE RUBBER WALLS, THE CLEANER WILL EAT THEM )

pull them out and wipe them off with a paper towl, spin them, then wipe them some more. let them set and dry out good(2 hours minimum, you dont need more than a day)

okay now you have rediculasly clean bearings, you can run them dry and they'll be faster but rougher, or you can use lube to make them smoother but slightly slower (if you have like bones spped cream it would be best) but what ever you have thats the absouloute thinnest oil you have works, one of my friends uses motor oil, i use stuff called white grease, just whatevers the thinnest(do not use WD-40). put your bearings on their side and put a little lube(whatever you decide on) on them and let the lube soak in,(like 5 min) spin them, then repeat on other side........put your walls back on and enjoy your almost brand new bearings :)............................................you should do this a minimum of every 3 months, every month works best.
happy skating
Camerons got the right idea. Cleaning your bearings and keeping them lubed up, especially if you skate a lot of street, will make them last a lot longer and save you money in the long run. WD-40 is the last thing you should ever use on bearings. They might spin really fast for a little while but they will self destruct from heat and wear not too long after.
I definitely need to try what cameron suggested. Thanks guys.
