I dont like to put myself in bad situations. But sometimes people don't know how to act and they get in your face. For whatever reason they have. Its good to carry a bit of protection just in case. I have yet to use the blade I carry now though, thank god. I like to remain peaceful.

The way I see it is you will find a lot of similar personalities wherever you go. So I wouldn't say people from DC or NY( I have family up there) are mean. Its just you gotta be careful how you approach people and vice versa.

As far as crime rate goes, DC is still DC. Lol.

Sorry it s off topic, but do you guys who live in the USA really need to carry real knives with you? Do any of you carry guns? Here in Europe i guess were lucky, i dont need a knife or a gun just to go skate. The biggest problem in my local area is the cops who ll try to bust up sessions after 2200 at night or give you a ticket for being drunk or on the wrong side of the street. The worst ive ever encountered is bad tempered old people in your face giving it 'back in my day' and 'Stop wrecking that bench!' Even between skateboarders and bladers there is little or no tension, Damn i like to go drinking with the boarders after a session!

In DC its illegal to carry guns, so I wouldn't have one.

Personally I never had a problem with cops because since I'm freeriding. I just hit up whatever there is that is (rail, ledge, stairs, etc) and I keep it moving.

I usually dont have a problem with boarders. They seem alright. I dont know if its because I used to skateboard too plays a factor in that. But of course there's always those few that try to start shit with you.

I have ran into some rude ass bikers though.

Pfffft!.!.! No you don't need a weapon to skate here. Growing up my mom lived in New Orleans and my dad lived in Chicago which are both can be considered "dangerous cities". Not one time in the last 16 years have I ever had a problem that required a weapon for my safety. Fuck, I stayed with a dude in Compton for a week to skate and didn't even have a problem there, in Compton. Honestly if I saw someone with a knife or even worse a gun at a skatepark i'd call the cops on their ass, but obviously that never happens so i don't even give it a second thought.
