Yea,

Went to the skate park today.
Got atop the quarter pipe.
Looked down. And said to myself "fug this".

So yea, how does one drop in to these things, and how long did it take any of you to over come that "Oh Shiz" feeling when looking down on one?

It never really goes away. But after you've done it once it's not that scary anymore. Start small.

Bend your knees, just roll it out.

i fingured I was just going to have to do it.

The skatepark only has 2 quarters (Its a small park) And they're like 8-10 feet.
I've been getting the hang of goign down these elevated ramps (Kinda like steep hills)

But when I look down the quarter My steel balls turn into cotton balls and I just puss out =\

Thanks for the advice!

Basically just like Nate put it, it took me a coulpe times at the park, but once you do it even once you will be like wow what was I so scared of.

You just have to go for it. In sports like this ur mind will take you out. Just dont be scared and do it. Once yiu do fear is gone

Yeah, be sure of yourself. Use helmet. Just remember to lean forwards, DO NOT LEAN BACK, you will do a nice long manual and then bail and hurt your butt.

You have to commit to it! You can crouch down "... bend your knees" like N ate says. It'll make the height less impressive. Once you start going down, just staighten your legs as the skates go down the transition. Your legs do all the work, your upper body shouldn't be moving that much. So, in reality, you wont have the impression that your head is going down. This is why everybody is saying that once you commit to it, it really isn't scary at all. Trust us!

Hurt yourself a bunch. That was how I did it. I sucked at first but my willingness to just suck it up and go eventually turned into sucking less and less. Start small and work our way up.

Also, learning to just go with the fall, never fight it, also helped. My worst injuries happened early in the game for me and the injuries were from the least spectacular trick attempts. Later in my blading life when I got good I had falls that looked epic to the naked eye ( pipe, vert etc) but I faired better than I did from my falls jumping over a curb.... Go figure.

I always had a great supportive crew I bladed with. We always pushed each other. I think that last one is the most important.

close your eyes and hope

Like Nate said bend your knees and lean forward.  I was trippin the first time I dropped in but after that first time its easy peezy.  Just go for it and don't psych yourself out.  Good Luck bra.

Yea dude you're gonna wreck. Just wreck soft.  But eventually you'll get it and then you will learn to fly and realize all those wrecks were worth it.  I'll never forget my first drop in I was scared as hell but I'll also never forget the first time I aired out on a 13 foot pipe. Incredible.
