Its all about body position when launching, and knowing when to spot your landing. For 540 flat land, not needing any type of ramp, before your feet leave the ground you should be a quarter the way through the rotation, When you launch, your body will continue to spin, so long as your head is turned to the direction you want to spin, you stop spinning when you pull your head back to neutral, which should be the time you are spotting your landing. Walking through the 720. Your torso is a quarter of the way through the first rotation before your feet leave the ground (also known as winding up), lets say you're turning counter clock wise, so your head is turned to the left, meaning your head has already gone through nearly 180 degrees prior to launch. You launch and now technically, your head has only 360 degress to spin before spotting a landing. Once you have spun enough to see the terrain or obsticle you launched from, now you look towards the ground directly behind you to spot the landing. The moment you look at the ground, you pull your head out of rotation, thus pulling your body out of rotation. It seems like a lot to remember, but the basic tip to spin tricks here is "your body follows your head". Once you look at the ground, the spin has lost momentum and the trick is basically over.
