So my wife shows me a video of the Yasutoko brothers the other night and all the old memories come flooding back. I skated a lot in Jr. high and high school then got caught up holding down a living, going to the military, getting married, and going to college. Here I am at 27, haven't sk8ed in years, and all those great memories have had me thinking about getting a pair of skates for the last few days. Then I think, am I too old to start up again. The question is I had fun when I was younger but am I too old now? I see a lot of the pro's now are younger and start to think that it would be weird for some old dude to start trying to skate again, what do you all think?

Are you serious? Who cares what other people think, if you wanna skate, skate. You will fall in love with it again. People won't care as long as they can tell you love skating it's all good.

Take advice from Little Miss Sunshine:
"Do what you love, and fuck the rest"
Thanks for the quote JP. It's not that I care what people think it's just getting back into that kinda stuff at this point, but I hear what you mean. It's kinda hard to explain but after being married for a while and being disconnected from stuff it's hard to think about getting back into something I did in high school, but it was fun as hell than; thanks for the support, now I just got to sneak some skates past my wife.
nether 2 old 2 roll:)
I'm 27 and I still skate. I'm still in the military, still in college, married, and still paying the bills. What are you waiting for? Dust off those skates.
That's good to hear man. I appreciate the feedback and thanks for serving. What branch are you in?
Haha, you know what I mean Richard. It is time to live, life just gets into too much of a routine. I guess my worries were how many years I have to skate still and if I will have the marbles now to do some of the things I did as a teenager. I've been out of the scene so long I don't even know where to skate. I'm sure my old buddies will give me a lot of crap but they can kiss an ass. Well I wish you the best with your engagement and hope you enjoy skaten again. What kind of skates did you get?
im 27
Its crazy to see what's out there now. I remember rollen old Rollerblade brand skates with the middle wheels out and some grind plates I made when aggressive first started. Then came the K2 somethings with aluminum frames I saved up for which were expensive and terrible, but fattys made up for it. Later was Oxygen and Roces Majestics. About the time I was getting caught up in other stuff they started making the skates with replaceable frames and sole plates. I never could afford the tight skates so now I'm thinking about Valo because I like the shoe style boot.
Hey there is no such thing as a dude startin skatin again being weird! I think you should start again definetly cuz you are NEVER too old so skate!
wish you all good!
Well, I'm turning 29 next year, and just got my first pair of inline skates (ever). No idea how long it's gonna take me to go down on a quarter pipe, but with a proper armor (helmet, knee pads, wrist guards, elbow proection..... I'm not a kid anymore), I'm pretty sure that it's gonna be a fun learning process.
Thank you Sara. If I never stopped skaten I wouldn't think it might be weird, but since it's been so long I feel disconnected. I hope to have everything come back so I can take the training wheels off as soon as possible.
You are never too old. The last time I was at a skate park there was a 15ish year old kid and his 55ish year old pops skating the ramps together. 27 is very young and you can still do it all, so no fear!
