Possibly a stupid question

Hello:I am brand new here and new to the world of inline skating although I used to be a huge roller skater when I was younger.  I am 37, out of shape and overweight with bad knees so i thought that maybe inline skating is my ticket.  Inevitably I would love to play roller hockey as long as I could get in to good enough shape.  Do you recommend skating as a way for me to get in to shape and to get rid of my big belly?I hope my questions aren't too stupid. Thanks,JoeSee More
