funny looks and random questions???

i skate to work ,everyday.i also skate to work in my "nicer" work clothes everyday.im 27 as of now.a young hearted 27.i am the only "blader" at work or in the area ,period. i work in a 12 story office building with lawyers and high end corporate people for the most part...heres were im getting at.the looks and questions i get every single freaking day?(which shows that there is a reoccurring interest in what im using on my feet).........the stares i get are looks that suggest one may be thinking the following..."what are those for?"..."how old is this guy?"..." he looks like hes skateboarding but hes not hmmm???"..."i thought rollerblading was non existant?"..."im getting confused looking at these skates"...etc etc etc.........................i personally love the verbal reactions,comments and questions i get as well............"well that sure looks like fun!"..."i need to start exercising in the mornings like you!"..."wow those look fast"..."what are the small wheels in the middle for?"..."those look expensive."..."so how long does it take to get to work?"..."my son loves skateboarding -just like you do."..."they look like shoes."...etc etc etc.

the point(i think) im making is nobody get ROLLERBLADING.nobody except us and our girl or boyfriends or family or close friends that try to relate but still have a hard time for the most part.

i love this.

rollerblading is forever different.

nobody will ever get what we really do and i personally dont care if anybody ever does.

AGGRESSIVE SKATING,ROLLERBLADE,FREESTYLE ROLLING IS WHAT IT IS THAT WE DO.ENJOY.

The two guys looked at each other and were dumbfounded, like they had forgotten rollerblading existed. Then one guy said to the other "That's like the 3rd person that's asked you that" as if that was more bladers than he knew existed in the whole world.

Then on the way out this kid was like "hey you skate?" and i was like yeah, so he started to get out his board, like he was gonna have me show him what i can do, and i was like "no not, skateboarding, blades." and he was just like "oh. ok." then left ha ha.

It kind of sucks sometimes cause you do have a hard time relating with anybody, and when you say you rollerblade you can tell some people just think rollerblading like just going straight down a sidewalk by the beach in full pads like a homo. And it's hard to explain aggressive unless you do it, or at least see it.

On the other hand it is kind of cool that way though. The blading community is like a secret society and only those in it know how awesome it is

people just dont get it. they never will until they actually try it. i hang with a few BMX'ers, they were givin it mouth sayin "man theyre just training its like running, anyone can run" until they actually put them on and they couldnt even stand. so a big fuck you to anyone who says its easy haha. Comment by Mike on December 26, 2009 at 11:05pm: I can relate to this 100% I work in a mall at the moment and when i get closing shifts i bring my skates and eveyone is always amazed or confused by them. It really is cool how no one knows about rollerblading except the people involved, but it does get kind of annoying when you try to explain it to people.
