get comfortable rolling down stairs, sometimes you slip off the rail and most times you'll land on stairs or grass. It's good to use a grind that you are very accurate with to start on a rail, the most important part is locking your feet in the right place. the second most important thing is balance, get on top of the rail and keep your knees bent. As for jumping high enough, aim further down the rail, then it's not so high.

You are probably trying to grind at point A. Grinding at this point is high and hard to do for people who are just starting out on handrails.
You should be grinding at point B. I cant explain why so you'll just have to trust me.

HOWEVER I CAN EXPLAIN WHY...GOOD ANALOGY JEREMY............"B" IS LEVEL WITH THE GROUND U ARE JUMPING OFF OF PLAIN AND SIMPLE NO HAVING TO JUMP TO THE VERY TOP.........JUMP TO IT NOT "ON" IT.
