Are you glad bladding is less popular, or do you wish it would blow up?

To me, there is just something kind of cool about the fact that you do not see 50 of us at every street corner (like boarders). What do you guys think?

I love that its so underground, although i really wish i had a few more guys in my crew to skate with. theres like 5 of us in my crew, and we almost never can all skate together. I HATE skating alone. But yea, its good were not as popular, cuz there isnt so many five year olds who saw chris haffey or brian shima on the TV and went out and had mommy buy them skates so they could be just like them. I also hate going the my local skatepark and seeing it FILLED with kids who can barely stand on their skateboard, who are just taking up space.

ok im done ranting :-P

LOL, I stopped skating ten years ago, recently I ran into a buddy I used to skate with and decided to take it up again. I went to the local skate shop that I used to go to and they had no gear for aggressive inline......nada. I went to three different shops just to find a set of wheels, bearings, cleaner, and grease. It amazes me that 10 years ago I could walk into a shop and there was a plethora of choices for gear, and now when I walk into a shop the snot nosed kid behind the counter looks at me like I just step out of a cave. WTF?....oh well, at least I still have my trusty K2 Fatties to comfort me :P

I guess it's cool that blading is something that is something not everyone knows much about because it gives you a bit of a sense of being original unlike the posers out there that just copy everyone else, but then i'm getting a little too hypocritical now ...
but then there's the bad side to where if you're a newbie you can't find anyone to skate with and you feel too plain stupid to ask around feeling like a dope
and with bladers, you can't really chose either, (this is only wishful thinking now) I mean like choose who you want to skate with, you kinda have to stick with them or you're out.

About 5 or 6 years ago there were about 10 bladers in my town to skate with. Now I am the last, once in a while I see some rec'ers around but when I skate with them I find out that they only skate about once a month, and are too scared to skate aggressively.

So basically I am forced to skate alone almost all the time, it gets hard sometimes but I kind of like the challenge of disciplining myself. This sport is becoming much more than just a hobby to me.

It's cool. Especially when you have the park to yourself. But, I have to admit. It gets pretty lonely sometimes. I only knew 6 people in my hood, who skated. Ian, Dustin, Jimmy, Brett, Don Bambrick, and dons lil brother. All of them went to my high school except dons lil bro. I haven't seen or heard from any of them since airborne went under.

skating alone just BLOWS! , when i lived in queens there was anywhere from 10-20 ppl that skated with me on a daily basis. we did get alot of police attention but it was fun because they could never really do anything to us.Me and my friends always stuck together and taught each other new things. im not totally aginst skating alone but it does get really boaring and fast but you dont have to worry about 5'O(cops) looking for somthing wrong with what iam doing. there deff is pro's and con's in skating alone Vs with a group!

I used to skate about 3 years ago and recently picked it up again. Part of the reason I stopped was because of all the crap I took from the boarders. At one point I had a crew of about 3 bladers and 5 boarders that were all friendly with eachother. Then, like usual, the boarders got cocky and kept downing the bladers.

The day that I got back into blading, I rolled about 7 miles from my house to the high school that I just dropped out of. I arrived just when school was ending. On the way I met 2 random people and got their numbers so we can blade sometime. And when I got to the school, I met another 5!

It isn't as dead as I thought it was, but there is still alot of trash talk comming from the boarders.

amen brother! keeps away posers, would be nice to see a few more dedicated booters though. sucks being at a park with 70 skater, 60 of which cant skate

There is not a whole lot in the way of fellow bladers for me to skate with either. I agree with you , in that it builds alot of self discipline to be able to go out and there and tear it up on your own. It also helps that I can out skate circles around 9 out of every 10 boarders that I run across. Even most boarders will recognize skill when they see it. Still, it does get lonely.

The main advantage in skating in a large group (like GIO pointed out) is not just the social aspect you get by being around others like yourself, but also, the fact that you push yourself to be better so much more when you skate with others. Also, if you skate with people that are better than you, you tend to strive to push your game to the next level as well.

Now, I mainly push myself to show up the skateboarders at the park. To go Faster, Bigger, and be 10 times more fearless than they are. I figure maybe that could win some peeps over to my side.

i like being one of the few bladers i know. the sport has drastically changed from when i started and i think that is mostly because it's not popular so we don't have the "Tony Hawks" superstars that dictate what the sport is coming to. instead it is up to the people to create and learn their own style instead of letting ESPN tell you whats cool.

I like things how they are. I don't tend to talk to people so I wouldn't likely meet other inliners even if it WERE more popular. I do like feeling different when I'm at the skatepark or on campus.

Right now I'm just getting my friends into skating since I already know I like them. I'm so nice, I even bought my 19yr old brother a pair of skates! (of course, I plan to switch out the parts I like and let him have what I don't like :p)
